WSMF 2026 Covenant of Understanding
January 2026
Western Slope Mennonite Fellowship is a faith-based community spread across Western Colorado, desiring to draw from the wisdom of Anabaptist thought and practice as we navigate life in the 21st century.
The covenant that follows is an expression of our shared values and practices, reviewed and renewed annually. The intent is to help us fulfill the Great Command, as Jesus taught us, to love God with all our being and our neighbor as ourselves.
In community, we of Western Slope Mennonite Fellowship commit ourselves to putting God’s love into action in the following ways:
Loving God - Living prayerfully, gathering for worship, studying scripture, and opening ourselves to the Holy Spirit.
Loving Ourselves - Understanding ourselves as image-bearers of God, tending to the health of our minds and our bodies, which we honor as unique gifts from God.
Loving Each Other - Caring for one another through prayer and service, giving and receiving counsel, celebrating our individuality and diversity, gathering for fellowship, and nurturing our children.
Loving Our Church - Participating in church business and discernment, being in relationship with Mountain States Mennonite Conference, Mennonite Church USA, and the Mennonite Confession of Faith (1995), even as we may find ourselves at variance with some of its contents.
Loving Our Neighbors - Building and healing relationships in our local communities, serving others in need, and working nonviolently for God’s peace and justice locally and globally.
Loving Creation - Living as part of the whole of creation, seeking to be good stewards, preservers, and restorers of the earth.
We hold that all who participate in this covenant do so in good faith to the fullest measure they are able.
We ask for God’s direction, grace, and peace as we continue this journey together in 2026.
